"Murmuration"
12 x 12 x 3/4"
Acrylic on Gessobord with Birch Sides
Ready to hang.
$165.00 SOLD

Have you ever experienced a murmuration? Defined as  the phenomenon that results when hundreds, sometimes thousands, of starlings fly in swooping, intricately coordinated patterns through the sky. "Grouping together offers safety in numbers – predators such as peregrine falcons find it hard to target one bird in the middle of a hypnotizing flock of thousands. They also gather to keep warm at night and to exchange information, such as good feeding areas."
Human beings are not made to be isolated. We need each other, we need physical closeness, we need interaction. Living through this pandemic has required great sacrifice. We are being asked to do that which is not natural to us or desired...to physically separate ourselves from our neighbors, our friends, our families. So why do we do it? We do it to help our medical people who are overwhelmed right now with predictions of exponential increase in numbers to come before vaccines can be distributed. We do it for our neighbors, friends and family because we do not know who will be susceptible to a bad reaction to the virus. These birds have to be aware of who is on each side, above, below and in front, moving as needed to protect their neighbor. It is a beautiful thing to watch.

My 12 x 12" paintings are normally priced at $250, but because of the pandemic, I will be selling them for $165.00. This includes shipping & handling. If interested in purchasing, you can find them on Etsy.com. Just plug in my name, Robyn Sand Anderson.
