It's been a while but I'm back! Life happens and life is really happening right now. We are in a full blown pandemic and entering the worst of it. Our country is in turmoil and at odds with each other. I have stayed engaged and worked to get out the vote. But it is heavy business and figuring out how to navigate this pandemic and our current political climate requires us to find ways to keep our heads up. For me, it has been getting outdoors for hikes and taking pictures of the beauty I find. I've also occupied my brain with writing a novel this past year. I am a hair's width away from a rough draft. Kurt Vonnegut quoted an archaeologist he met on a dig who said, "I don't think being good at things is the point of doing them. I think you've got all these wonderful experiences with different skills, and that all teaches you things and makes you an interesting person, no matter how well you do them."I didn't know I could do it, but with some help from Writer's Write Mia Joubert Botha, I did. You don't know what you can do until you let yourself go and give it a try. Creating something is a healing experience, whether it is making a spectacular tater tot hot dish, cutting wood and stacking it beautifully, or playing with paint. I lost two big painting gigs this last summer and so haven't painted much, but I need it now and am starting back in with my Painting-A-Day project which is now more truthfully, a Painting-A-Week project. I will be painting small paintings, usually 12 x 12" but may do some 8 x 8" triptychs. I will be experimenting with colors, textures and movement and eventually hope to figure out how to create instructional and guided painting videos. It's good to figure out some ways to be creative. It fills those empty spaces in our souls right now. Get a pad of watercolor paper, a paintbox and brush and just play with color. It doesn't have to "be" anything...it is about the journey, people. It's good to be back.

My 12 x 12" paintings are normally priced at $250, but because of the pandemic, I will be selling them for $165.00. This includes tax and shipping & handling.
