One of the biggest challenges in my life as an artist is finding balance. Balance is crucial in a painting. It doesn't feel right or finished if it is out of balance. Today I drove to a nearby town to look at a bike a guy was selling on Craigslist. It took about 2 hours out of my day, and 2 hours out of the time I use to paint these 12x12's. But, I just happened to look on Craigslist and there it was. The kind of bike I've been looking for, a good brand and a good price. He needed me to come and look at it in the morning. I knew I should be painting because I haven't for several days because of other travels. But I chose to go and now I have a new used bike! I hoped I'd still have time to paint and I was able to get this painting done. It is painted entirely with a palette knife. Fun and fast paced. I love the creaminess of acrylic paint and how they blend with each other as I apply each color. These colors suggest a landscape for me...how about you? I read an article about Facebook's new changes that only allow a few of you to see this post, though I have 405 people signed up on my Facebook art page now. I read that the word "Congratulations!" brings it to more viewers...so if any of you can work that into a comment, that would be great!
