I wanted it to be a landscape of sorts, because being outdoors is where I really notice that I am still. That I am taking deep breaths. I notice the smallest things and the big picture all at once. I think about the passage of time...how the time we humans have been putzing around is really just a blip in the existence of this planet. Wow. We are important and we are not, it appears. It is good to remember that. We can decide how we want to be, on the earth. It's always good to get a little perspective on this...and so it goes with painting. A little perspective helps. I'm in my mid-fifties now, and it occurs to me that life is short. And I ask the question...why are we all running so fast? Filling our heads with stuff to keep track of, stuff to remember, stuff to make us feel accomplished, stuff to make us "feel better", stuff, stuff, stuff.
I think I need some space to breathe....
