Acrylic on Gallery Stretched Canvas, 12 x 12". Ready to hang!
I see him approaching Jerusalem, people having gathered to honor and cheer him. I imagine he had a heavy heart as he waded through the crowds. He knew. He knew that going up against the powers-that-be would most likely end in his death. I imagine he looked at these faces with love and compassion; young and old, feeble and robust, male and female looked to him with hope. He spoke of love, mercy and justice in a world that craved power and riches.
Not much has changed really, has it? There are different crosses now, instruments of torture and death, like the sarin gas that Assad assaulted his own people with, little children and babies. Human beings still seem to find horrific ways to hurt and destroy each other. And so, we turn our faces to the Light and step out of our comfort zones to act and speak out for the oppressed and downtrodden. If we don't, who will? We can choose love, mercy and kindness. We can be the light in a world that needs it desperately.
