Acrylic on Archival Gessobord with 3/4" Birch Sides, 12x12", Ready to hang!
here I am and here we go with today's post.
Many steps in this painting, many layers of paint. It is hard to describe this process of painting...it starts with excitement and elation as I put the first colors on the board. At a certain point, as the painting gets tighter...decisions are more difficult and a sense of terror tries to squeeze through the door. I am starting to see that this point in the painting is normal. When painting an abstract, I try not to let myself freeze up when I think it might be getting away from me, especially because I am on this daily deadline. I am trying to be free with the paint, adventuresome. Yet I have to maintain some control, have some plan in mind. It is quite a balancing act. I think I am done with this painting, but I might change a few things in a day or two. We'll see if it starts yelling at me. "Hey! Hey!" Over here!". It happens sometimes. But for now, right now, all I hear is..."Ahhh.....nice!" I know, I have been alone in this studio too long...but I wouldn't have it any other way.
